This white tea cake comes from Fuding which the is captal area of white teas in China. The raw leaves for this white tea cake were picked in one of the core areas of white tea production in Waizha village, known locally as Chaitou Mountain, Fuding. Same as other white teas, only sundrying is involved making in order to maintain the most original taste of the leaves from the supreme eco environment.
This gong mei cake is relatively young. It tastes relatively refreshing and lighter comparing to our 2008 Fuding Wild Tree Aged White Tea (Shou Mei) Cake. The liquid is sweet and smooth. It carries a subtle floral note and a hint of chinese medicinal herbs aroma. Unlike aged white teas whihc usually carries a strong and mature berry taste & buttery texture , this cake is very refreshing and make it lighter to drink. It can withstand long steeping without astringency but come with a very delightful bittersweet aftertaste. There is still a lot of room for this cake to development. Looking forward to its taste after a few more years of aging. This white tea can be a daily tea and most suitable for people who like a brisk and refreshing flavour and patient enough to harvest the quality aging of this gong mei.
